:: My qualifications
I received my Masters degree in Social Work
from the University of Southern California in 1985. I have been
a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1988. Most of my career
has been spent working for non-profit organizations providing
counseling as well as clinical supervision for interns and
license-ready clinicians. Over the years I have had the
opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals
addressing a wide array of issues and circumstances including
depression, anxiety, sexuality and gender, relationships, life
transitions, self esteem, personal growth, stress management,
work, decision-making, and interpersonal problems.
I have received specialty training focusing on
depression, anxiety, grief and loss, sexuality and gender
issues, life threatening and terminal illness and couples
counseling.
In July 2003, I completed EMDR training. Eye movement
desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), developed in the late
80’s is a useful tool in addressing and synthesizing traumatic
events, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and issues related to
low self-esteem, in a relatively short period of time. The
results can be astounding.
