:: About counseling
My approach is growth orientated, building on an
individual's strength, successes and positive experiences, while
acknowledging and addressing the influence of the past. I
believe that it is essential to develop a supportive, caring,
honest relationship based on respect in order to assist an
individual in meeting their self-defined goals.
Counseling is a process, and together we will
determine how often and how long you continue in counseling. Of
course you may choose at any time to discontinue your counseling
sessions. The reasons why people choose to end therapy
vary--their goals have been reached, their life circumstances
have changed, they are satisfied or dissatisfied with their
progress, etc.
I encourage you at any time to discuss candidly
with me your feelings about how counseling is proceeding as well
as any thoughts you may have about ending. I will always be
willing to provide you with feedback, recommendations or, if
desired, referrals to other qualified therapists.
I assure you that every effort is made to handle
your concerns in a sensitive, caring and professional manner.
The counseling relationships I have occupy a
position of importance in my life. If you choose to enter into
counseling with me, I will strive to use my professional skills
to assist you in any way I can. Please do not hesitate to ask me
questions you may have about any of these policies or anything
else regarding our work together.
